Back Behind The Camera

Finally! After six months I’ve finally been able to get myself back behind the camera with three shoots in the space of a week. And another two lined up in the not so distant future.

It’s great to be back doing something that I really enjoy and I’ve sorely missed being able to shoot over these months of lockdown. In a change to my usual, I have been shooting on location. Which is not something I usually do as I prefer the control of a studio. But as my usual studio remains closed at the moment it’s as good an excuse as any to take the opportunity to do something different.

I kicked off the week with a trip up to Skegness for a long overdue beach shoot with Rach, aka Fairestofthemall. Rach has been in contact with me a few times about a shoot and we were finally able to arrange something. It was a great shoot to mark my return and hopefully it won’t be too long before we can do a repeat performance.

That was followed up later in the week with a trip to Thornham with Amber Foxley. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Foxley before and so knew we were going to have a lot of fun on this shoot.
We did hit a slight snag though. Unbeknown to either of us this particular area floods when the tide’s in. Fortunately we were able to shoot in the rushes where it was dry and it didn’t take long before the tide went out and we were able to shoot where we had planned.

The week ended with a journey to Harrow and the Charmed Aura Event group shoot arranged by PortraitX. This was originally scheduled for May before Covid came along shut everything down. This was a great little shoot with each of us photographers able to work one-on-one with our models for the afternoon – Abbie, Katie, Rashmi, Angel and Natasha – meaning there was no need to sit around waiting or try and shoot over someone’s shoulder. The location was this lovely little woodland area, we could have shot here all day and still barely scraped the surface of the photographic opportunities available.

So that’s been my week, and what a week. A bunch of new places, a handful of new faces, as well as some familiar ones. The only downside is I haven’t yet had chance to edit anything yet, all the photos you can see here are straight out of the camera.

In the meantime, as always. . .

Stay Safe, Stay Sane.
